The Keys To Success: Dancing With The Gods

Success is the achievement of a given goal. Success is an accomplishment. Success can mean different things to different people, groups, societies, and nations. It is something that can either be personalized or shared.
It is said that nothing succeeds like success. This is very true. This is because success is always predetermined. To claim success in anything a goal must have been set. Also, there must be a way of measuring the achievement of that goal.
However, no matter how lazy, unambitious, and timid one may be, everybody has tasted success once before. Everyone can also remember the emotions, feelings, and sensations that success, or victory brought along with the achievement of a predetermined goal. The sensations engendered by success are euphoria, elation, exultation, and power. The feeling is a "high", the most potent kind of "high" ever. More potent than any drug known to mankind. And this "high" is delicious. During the period when one is enjoying the potent "high" of victory, one is literally "dancing with the gods".
However, no matter how many times one relives this moment the potency continues to reduce until the "high" itself is remembered but not felt. At this stage, a new challenge is needed.
"Remember this: Human nature is competitive. However, eight out of ten times you are actually competing with yourself - your own fears, your own self-imposed limitations, your own debilitating thoughts and your own perverse need for pain and humiliation."  - Ayo Sodipo
As some people are infused with the habitual "high" of success, so are some people addicted to the "low" of failure and defeat. Failure and success are two sides of the same coin. Habitual failures are usually masochists who actually enjoy the agony of defeat. In their twisted mentality, they see virtues in suffering and humiliation.
Remember this: Human nature is competitive. However, eight out of ten times you are actually competing with yourself - your own fears, your own self-imposed limitations, your own debilitating thoughts, and your own perverse need for pain and humiliation. In fact, the rationale that eight out of ten times you are competing with yourself is very generous, usually, it is more like ninety-eight out of a hundred times. The fact is that, usually, success or failure in any venture is firmly in our hands. We literally hold our destinies in our own hands most of the time. The indisputable truth is that success and failure are choices. Usually, you can either choose to succeed at something or, fail at it. When this is translated to the higher perspective of one's life - one can either choose to be a success or a failure.
As we explore the science of success together on this site, we will notice that one of the most important ingredients for success is a singular factor - "resolve". You can either be resolute in your decision to succeed or, be irresolute and the chances of failure creep in. A person that is resolved to achieve a goal effectively closes the possibility of an alternative outcome.
